La Lettre English Translation – Renan Luce
I personally enjoy the upbeat and steady acoustic guitar throughout the song, La Lettre.
This translations tells us about how a simple error by the postman could lead to love. Our singer finds out that she’s pregnant, and is willing to accept the baby… “I’ll be dad if he wants to call me that”. The reason I marked this song as “medium” is because Renan speaks slowly, and with a little knowledge of vocabulary, it’s not to difficult to understand or sing along! However, the song is quite long and the ideals are abstract in a sense, which qualifies it as a medium-leveled song.
Here is the complete list of translated French songs!
Thanks a lot for your post :) I could read in English very easily!
For the moment, I’m learning French, and I’m Korean.
Hope you keep a good work!
To add to Anonymous’ 08 March 2012 comment, he says ‘Lui pesait sous le nombril’ not ‘Lui faisait.’ Maybe you should also mention that ‘J’en suis tombé amoureux’ means ‘I had fallen in love WITH HER’ not just ‘I had fallen in love.’
Je veux bien qu’il me donne
he says “Je veux bien qu’il me nomme”
“J’ai saisir par la manche”
-> J’ai saisi par la manche
“Qui n’était pas tant”
-> Qui ne l’était pas tant
Car j’en suis tombé amoureux, amoureux
Because I had fallen in love, in love
I don’t think “had fallen” is right. I would rather think ‘have fallen’ (had fallen would translate back to ‘étais tombé’.
Et en guise de paraphe
And judging by her signature
More like ‘And as a signature’
(‘La petite blonde sexy’ doesn’t directly relate to the writer, it relates to a picture drawn on the letter as a signature.)
