Comme Tu Veux in English

COMPREHENSION DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM
Comme tu veux
As you wish
Comme tu vois
As you see
Like a wave that ripples and ripples forward
Comme il faut
Like it’s necessary
Toute sa vie
For all of its life
Until the day it changes its mind
Je voulais me reculer
I would like to back up
Me perdre dans un coin noir
Lose myself in a dark corner
Comment peux-tu t’avancer?
How can you move closer?
Sans direction sans savoir
Without direction, without knowing
Tous ces détours
All these detours
Tous ces jolies aventures
All these pretty adventures
C’est pas ma faute
It’s not my fault
C’est pas ma faute
It’s not my fault
If I see the sea through my keyholes
C’est comme ça, ce monde à moi
It’s like that, this world to me
From time to time I hear some voices
Des sirènes qui me tirent
The mermaids who tug at me
I cannot help myself from following them
Je voulais reculer
I would like to step back
me voilà plaquer contre le mur
Myself there pinned against the wall
Mais il faut s’avancer
But he has to come
À toute allure
At full speed
Tous ces détours
All these detours
Tous ces jolies aventures
All these pretty adventures
C’est pas ma faute
It’s not my fault
C’est pas ma faute
It’s not my fault
If I see the sea through my keyholes
Chaque détour me plonge
Each detour plunges me
Dans une jolie aventure
Into a pretty adventure
C’est pas ma faute
It’s not my fault
C’est pas ma faute
It’s not my fault
If I see the sea through my keyholes
Tous ces détours
All these detours
Ces jolies aventures
These pretty adventures
The entire world right at your door
Where I had saw the sea through your keyholes
C’est exactement comme tu voulais…
It’s exactly what you would like
Every detour and I see the sea through keyholes
Andrea Wittgens is a New York based singer originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. Andrea started to tap dance and play piano at an early age, eventually she earned a double major in both French and music.
Miss Wittgens sings us a very beautiful song. I think that we all should see the world like she does, exploring it with constant curiosity. The song uses a lovely piano and eventually builds up with guitars/drums.

I wonder if it’s supposed to remind us a little of Alice in Wonderland? Seeing the sea through the keyhole, all the pretty adventures and so on? Either way, it’s very pretty and pensive.

We should all thank Abby for it, right? ;)
don t feel bad, i ended up here for the same reason :)
Yes, I ended up here thanks to x-art. Shame on me.
I feel bad.
Hello! In regards to your first example:
Jusqu’au jour où elle change d’avis.. My translation is correct because “elle” is a pronoun referring to the “wave” which was previously mentioned 3 lines above. As you know, in English that “it” would be the proper pronoun for a wave.
On the other hand, thanks for pointing out that I did indeed write “my door” instead of “your door”, it was a simple typo which I may not have noticed. I corrected the Translation above. I agree this one seemed a little too abstract for my tastes haha
Je vous souhaite une bonne Journée !
I’m not an expert on french but there seem to be some mistakes in the translation, although they are mostly tiny ones.
For example:
Until the day it changes its mind
it’s: Until the day she changes her mind
The entire world right at my door
here it’s: the entire world right at your door.
Other then that it was quite alright, maybe some things that were a bit too literal though :)
“Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.” [Jimi Hendrix]
There is no greater proof.
I am Brazilian and despite not knowing any French. I loved the music.
Now I know what it says.
Thanks!
