Le Ritz Paris
For anyone seeking a traditional, grand hotel in Paris, you must look no further than the jewel of the Place Vendôme, le Ritz Paris.
With its well-known clientele from Coco Chanel, to Pamela Harriman and Princess Diana, le Ritz Paris manages to stay au courant while maintaining its charm, opulence and traditions.
Its exquisite lobby and multiple bars and restaurants, provide many choices where one might enjoy a cocktail or a sumptuous meal prepared by a Michelin-rated chef.
Whether you choose a Chambre Grand Deluxe or a famous Suite Deluxe (pictured below), each has beautiful linens, spa products, views and balconies that are unparalleled.
If spa treatments are on your list, the Ritz Club offers bespoke treatments, as well as a pool and a gym. Off of the lobby, one can get lost in the glitter of the mirrored corridor of boutique windows, filled with jewels and designer accessories.
A must stop cocktail lounge, at the far end, is the Bar Hemingway, where visitors from around the world enjoy original creations made by their famous bartender.
However, if you are seeking the same luxury but in a smaller venue… just around the corner from the Ritz is l’Hôtel Costes, (7 rue de Castiglione, 1ère).
Favored by the global glitterati, this is a great place to catch a glimpse of super models and movie stars – hoping to maintain their anonymity.
This hotel, the result of a collaboration between two world-renown architects, comprises three opulently designed buildings that surround the restaurant.
With only 82 very special rooms, one is guaranteed very personal, first class service.
The restaurant is open late, and even on Sundays. Other amenities include their private pool and spa, as well as a fitness center and a hammam (special steam room) to refresh your body after a day of touring and shopping.
L’Hôtel & Spa d’Aubusson
Over on the Rive Gauche, the 5-star Hôtel & Spa d’Aubusson, (33 rue Dauphine, 6ème), is another boutique hotel located at the center of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Originally a palatial townhouse from the 17th century, the residence was subsequently reinterpreted into a luxury hotel. Thus you will have a very central location to explore Paris. Here you are steps away from the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Musée d’Orsay.
With only 50 recently upgraded rooms, the property provides an amazing private spa and pool area, including a sauna, fitness room, multiple treatments, and even a Scandinavian shower and ice fountain.
You can catch breakfast, tea, or a cocktail in their Café Laurent, where piano music filters throughout the afternoon, and jazz comes to life at night.
Nearby, an even smaller hotel, l’Hôtel Relais Saint-Germain, (9 carrefour de l’Odéon, 6ème), occupies a renovated 16th century building.
This tiny hotel has only 22 rooms – each one different. The design elements using various fabrics, wall papers and wood motifs create a more romantic, rustic ambience.
Each room has a view, and the owners specialize in providing a more intimate and personal relationship with their guests.
While the hotel is classified as 4-stars, the services offered mirror those of the larger 5-star hotels. Not to mention their in-house Bistro, Le Comptoir du Relais, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their famous chef creates daily set specials with ingredients sourced from local farms.
For business executives, who also prefer a 5-star experience, the Bristol Paris, (112 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 8ème), is a favorite.
Located near the American Embassy, this hotel offers multiple “function” rooms for meetings along with a grand ball room.
The 150 recently updated guest rooms and suites are palatial, with oversized closets, luxurious beds and well-appointed bathrooms.
Their 3-star restaurant, the Epicure; the 1-star Brasserie, and three additional restaurants provide a plethora of dining options. Guests can also enjoy The Spa Le Bristol which not only has an extensive menu of spa treatments for adults, but also a special Kid’s Club for children.
Whether for business or leisure, the Bristol Paris provides amenities and luxury for all who grace their white marble halls.
Four Seasons Paris
We conclude with the historic Four Seasons Hôtel George V, Paris, (31 avenue George V, 8ème).
Built in 1928, this hotel sits in the middle of an iconic location, within walking distance of the Champs Elysées and views of the Tour Eiffel.
There is easy access to the fashion designers, monuments, the American Cathedral and the Crazy Horse Saloon.
As you enter, the hotel exudes glamor and opulence; where massive floral arrangements fill the lobby with color and aroma.
This hotel boasts 244 large, oversized rooms and an additional 59 suites and penthouse options with balconies. In the tradition of the Four Seasons, the George V offers fine Michelin gourmet dining, including three restaurants, as well as a spa, pool and many wellness options.
In 1999, the Four Seasons Hotel George V was voted “Best Hotel in the World” by many publications. It is no wonder that celebrities and heads of state from around the world choose the George V as their favorite Parisian hotel.
These are just a few of the many unique luxury hotels found in Paris. No matter which hotel, dining experience or spa treatment you may choose in any of these 5-star destinations, you are sure to be pampered and treated to the highest level of service, indulgence and accommodation.
The difficulty is choosing which one…
